Climbing arborist

The duties of this position will include efficiently leading a crew, directing members and equipment as well as planning and executing assigned work and tasks. You will need to lead the team in a way that ensures a hazard free work place. You will be responsible in supervising and assisting in proper machine maintenance of all equipment including hand tools, chainsaws, chipper and stump grinder. You should be comfortable in all aspects of tree pruning, thinning, removing and dead wooding. Along with removal of hazardous trees and operating of equipment such as installing cables, bracing and heavy equipment. You should be able to work with a variety of crew members and to be successful you should be prepared to work outdoors in all kinds of weather conditions.

Qualifications:

  • ISA Certified Arborist an asset

  • Minimum 2 years experience as an Arborist

  • Strong tree, knot and shrub identification skills

  • Prior experience with trimming, chipper, and chainsaw operation is preferred

  • A clean valid Driver’s License is required

  • Must be able to carry 50lbs at a minimum and work outside in all weather conditions

  • Strong leadership, organized

Grounds Person

The duties of this position will include reporting to the foreman, assisting arborists, collecting and piling branches and brush to be processed with the chipper. You will need to assist the team in a way that ensures a hazard free work place. You should be able to work with a variety of crew members and to be successful you should be prepared to work outdoors in all kinds of weather conditions. We will train new staff in the safe use of ropes, rigging, chainsaws, hand tools as well as the daily maintenance and operation of chipper and stump grinders. This position will be a great entry into the field for anyone considering a career as a climbing arborist or that wants to gain experience.

Requirements:

  • Minimum Grade 12 education, or equivalent;

  • Demonstrated commitment to safety in the workplace for the protection of employees and the general public;

  • Duties include Rope Management, moving logs/dragging brush-bucking, brush chipping; heavy lifting

  • G Class Driver’s License with a clean Driver’s Abstract; DZ license is not required, but considered an asset. Has transportation to get to job site or designated meeting point
